The New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys are two of the most popular teams in the NFL. And to some, they are two of the most loathed teams in the league.

So it really shouldn’t come as a surprise to find that two teams which elicit such intense emotions were also the subject of more petitions than any other in the league when we analyzed the NFL petitions in our database.

But which team comes out on top in a head-to-head match-up? The New England Patriots were the subject of more than 110 petitions, nearly double that of the Dallas Cowboys, which were the subject of 60.

Following “Deflategate,” many people created petitions about the Patriots, both in favor of and against the team. Showing the staunch loyalty of Patriots fan, one petition about the Patriots asks the team’s fans to boycott the first half of the season opener to make a point to Roger Goodell.

But that doesn’t mean that all petitions about a team are criticizing it or the NFL. Some petitions about NFL teams are simply asking the team to do something for its fans.

One of the petitions about the Dallas Cowboys, for instance, asks Roger Goodell to sanction an annual game between the two teams in the state of Texas: the Cowboys and the Houston Texans.

Below is a list of the 10 NFL teams, out of the total 32, that were the subject of the most petitions. We generated this list by looking at all time petition creation and analyzing the titles of those petitions.
